Most often this is a framed and ready-to-hang two dimensional image.) | This piece is inspired by Annie Dillard’s affection for muskrats in her Pulitzer Prize winning novel, “Pilgrim at Tinker Creek”. Specifically, the location of Tinker Creek in the painting was painted live from where Annie Dillard described her interaction with a muskrat in Chapter 11: “Stalking”, over in the neighborhood across from Hollins College. This piece of art was achieved using acrylic paint, and is approximately 6x9inches on a canvas panel. |
| Please reflect on how your contemplative practice informed or helped shape the work. | I was able to spend time by Tinker Creek, meditating and communing with nature, thusly inspiring this piece of art. |
| Please reflect on how your deeper exploration of nature informed or helped shape the work. | I was determined to go find the exact location I believed the description of her muskrat “stalking” to have taken place. Eventually finding the right spot became the background of this piece. |
