Outcomes included; children asked for more activities after sharing their own stories, singing and making visual artwork.
I learned that it is good to keep moving with the direction of the children’s interest; to be flexible and have extra activities ready for their needs. I was very glad the Children were engaged and each participated in following the exercises and exploring the prompt questions.

I believe this first year at Apple Ridge was a great success and I see they have already taken the next steps of building relationships with other artists and staff members by engaging more artists this year through the Arts Connect Neighbors Catalog. After the summer camp I know these relationships will continue in Roanoke and will inspire and support more Arts Connections in many of the Neighborhood represented by Apple Ridge summer Staff, junior counselors, and the children who attend during the summer. Most of the staff of Apple Ridge are also community leaders in Roanoke neighborhoods. I am proud to see the relationships and opportunities expand.
