Please describe the outcomes of your activity. What did you learn? What made you the most proud of the effort?

I decided to stay for the entirety of the event. I am so glad I did! The event was such a joyous occasion with home cooked food, entertainment and chalk art. I believe every child, pre-teen and some adults engaged. There was just an air of overwhelming positivity.

Afterwards, I took a couple of pictures over to Stan Hale at the Tribune. This is one of the connections I have been working on. He expressed a need for me to communicate these events to him BEFORE they happen so he can send coverage.

My work this year has focused on asset-based celebration of identity and place. Due to all the many efforts from many community partners, there is joy and hope in the air.

From your perspective, what would be a good next step for the neighborhood in building engagement and momentom?

I think a series of weekly engagements would help grow community and escalate the good vibes. Perhaps a 4 or 6 week series exploring somatic movement, drumming, dance?
