| Tell us about you, the writer. Please include a few sentences of biographical information. | I am a mother of three of Swedish-Peruvian descent, who has lived most of her life in the New River and Roanoke Valleys. Professionally, I have worked as a grant writer and a journalist. My personal publications include essays, poetry and short stories. My work highlights people and groups on the margins of society and tries to amplify their voices. |
| Please describe your artistic practice including the genres you typically work in. | I am drawn to untold stories and unheard voices. Depending on what genre seems the best vehicle for the tale, I alternate between essays, poetry and short stories. |
| Please describe why you are interested in this project and what you hope to learn. | Art and public transportation are two things that should be accessible to everyone, and that can unify people across cultural and societal lines. I hope to learn and share the stories, experiences and destinations of Roanoke Valley residents who might not have anything else in common besides their time in the passenger seat. |
| What about Roanoke inspires your creativity? | The history and persistence of Roanoke and its residents through economic and cultural challenges and struggles across the decades is inspiring. |
