You Belong in This Circle: Collective African Dance

Abri d’Oshun, Whole Person Haven | instagram.com/abri.d.oshun

This interactive 90-minute workshop will reflect the communal nature of ancestral West African dance traditions. The event is people-inclusive. We hope to welcome all generations in your neighborhood, diverse states of wellness and mobility, the entire gender spectrum, LGBQTIA+ friends, and every ancestry. Guests will be introduced to the legacy of ‘circle’ practice, and journey into the marriage of musical sounds and sights of the dance styles. Personally connecting the dance to music, we’ll warm our bodies, loosen our spirits, and learn traditional dance movements. Finally, we’ll synergize our creative expressions and enjoy the artful healing experience of collective West African-style dance!

Participants: Eight to 45
Ages: All ages and abilities
Value: $400.00
Requirements: Please provide a flat, low-cut grassy space, outside stage area, or a large community room with wooden floors. We’ll need chairs for those with limited mobility, access to drinking water, and a Bluetooth speaker (or clip-on lapel mic and sound system for larger groups).
