Marlee Coles used an Art Matters grant to hold an event recognizing the Crown Act – passed in Virginia in 2020 – and celebrating natural hair. The event was held on July 3, 2023 at The Collective andincluded a panel session, a hair art wall, professional portraits, and a pop-up shop.
